A very warm welcome back to all students and their families

It has been so lovely to see the senior students happy and excited about a new year.

I feel very proud to be overseeing the senior years here at Lalor Secondary College. Having spent several years at the 9 and 10 level and consequently  having had the privilege of getting to know our wonderful students, together with the senior school team, I am looking forward to supporting them to reach their academic goals as they plan and reach for their pathways beyond secondary school.

It has been a very exciting start to the new school year. The senior school has a brand new precinct, including a new senior school hub  adjacent to the school oval near the  Derek street entrance. These re- locatable classrooms, are state of the art facilities, and although temporary whilst works commence in our 100’s building, they provide a light filled senior study centre and modern classrooms.

The senior school team for 2021 comprises of Ms Carmody as Senior School Sub school Leader, Mr Hill and Ms Zdraveska as year 12 Student Managers, and Ms Cartisano and Mr Ladnjak as year 11 Student Managers. Ms Jovcevski is VCAL coordinator. Ms Bussell supports the team as Pathways coordinator. Ms Cujic is our VASS coordinator. 

Last Thursday and Friday, our year 12 students attended a Study Camp at Lady Northcote, to undertake  preparatory sessions focussing them back into school and study. Some of the workshops included, how to combat anxiety, managing time pressures and the benefits of yoga on personal well-being. I would like to thank all staff who attended in support of these programs, and specifically Mr Hill, Ms Domm, Ms Carmody and Ms Zdraveska for the hours of work ensuring an engaging program. The students were impeccably behaved and many of the camp staff took time out to mention to our team what a delightful and cooperative group of young adults they were. 

I would like to thank all parents and careers for the support you have given to ensure your children have started the year positively with the necessary equipment and books. You form an essential component of this partnership that we share together to ensure the best possible academic and personal achievement for our students.
