Maths matters

Welcome to Maths Matters for 2021. 

My name is Lauren Gould and I am the Mathematics curriculum leader. Throughout the year, I will endeavour to provide our families with information about Mathematics here at St Mary’s, current trends in Mathematics and fun games and ideas for engagement at home.

At St Mary’s, we are committed to providing learning experiences that cater for all learners, allowing for all students to achieve their best. We apply a whole school approach to the best practices in teaching and learning Mathematics... we believe all children can learn and enjoy Mathematics.  At St Mary’s, learning experiences are purposeful, hands on and relevant to stimulate thought, imagination and enjoyment. Students are provided with opportunities to work collaboratively and independently, and are given the opportunity to achieve intended objectives in a safe and stimulating environment.

Ongoing assessment is a vital part of learning and teaching. The data collected by teachers supports your child at a whole school, year level, class level and individual level. At every opportunity, feedback is provided to ensure your child understands their next point of learning.

Our classes are structured around student driven and teacher led instruction and provides students with tools to assist in their learning.
