Welcome RHPS Artists to 2021!!
It was such a joy to see all of the wonderful Artist's back in the art room. The smiles and enthusiasm by all was heart warming to see. We spent time reconnecting through a range of art activities and shared the story, Be who you are by Todd Parr and discussed how we are all unique and amazing. Every student then drew a self-portrait to add to our whole school art piece, which is a beautiful rainbow, with a very special message; Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud by Maya Angelou. This message is a reminder to continue to show kindness to our whole school community. (Even our wonderful staff are drawing themselves for our rainbow).
Over the coming weeks there will be lots happening in the art room:
Our amazing new Prep artists will begin creating a range of sea creature art to get our hands dirty, learn about art room routines and get our fine motor skills in action.
The super energetic Grade 1/2 students are about to venture into Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art. We will learn about our countries Aboriginal art practices, learn about and read Dreamtime stories and create crocodile puppets and rain makers.
Our extremely creative Grade 3/4 students will be getting our Science excitement growing in the school by creating oil pastel and water colour crazy Scientist art and the talented Grade 5/6 students will be making beautiful pieces of art inspired by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso. Our 3-6 students will continue with art classes until week 6, where they will them venture into some Science learning with our new Science Specialist.
Thank you to everyone who has already brought in a named art smock or old shirt, it's going to be a very MESSY year and we will use these weekly. If you will have trouble getting your hands on a smock, please email me, as I have a few spare I can hand out.
Have a wonderful week and I look forward to a great year ahead.
Keep Creating!
