P.E & Sport News

What an amazing start to 2021 we have had! The weather has been perfect for P.E, the kids have been more motivated than ever and we have so many exciting events to enjoy!
The Preps have had a flying start to P.E! This Term they are learning the routines and skills required to participate in P.E safely. They also having a ball being introduced to some of the fundamental movement skills including running, jumping, catching, bouncing & throwing.
The Grade 1/2 students will be showing off and consolidating their running, dodging and kicking skills this Term. I can tell that there was lots of time spent kicking footy's over 2020!
The Senior students are learning and refining their Athletics skills this Term in preparation for our Athletics carnival coming up at the end of the Term. We have some incredibly determined and enthusiastic students here at Rolling Hills it will be such a fun day out on the track!
Extra special sporting activities to add to your calendar this Term:
- Prep PMP beginning Thursday 11th of February: The Prep students will be beginning a weekly Perceptual Motor Program (PMP). The program is extremely beneficial in developing younger students hand/eye and hand/foot coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye tracking skills. Not to mention it is loads of fun!
- Grade 3-6 District Swimming on Monday 15th of February: We have approximately 30 students going down to Lilydale Pool to compete against schools in our local area in a swimming carnival. Please wish them luck!
- Grade 1/2 Taekwondo: Later in the Term dates TBC we will be having professional Taekwondo coaches come in to run a 4 week program with the Grade 1/2 students. Watch out we are going to have some tough little students running around the school soon!
- Grade 5/6 Summer Sports on Friday 19th of March: The Grade 5/6 students have chosen a sport (Volleyball, Hot Shots Tennis, Cricket or Softball) and have begun their training session in preparation for the interschool Summer Sports. We are looking forward to a fun filled day of great sportsmanship!
- WHOLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL on Thursday 25th of March: Our whole school will be getting buses up to the Yarra Ranges Athletics Track in Mount Evelyn to compete in a range of athletic and fun events it is bound to a day to remember!
