Pastoral Care News

This week members of the C.A.T visited homerooms to remind students and staff that hampers will be collected early next week so that they can be decorated in preparation for the presentation to representatives from St Vincent de Paul. The initial reports are extremely positive (as expected) and once again the MCC community has demonstrated that they are willing to put their faith and mission into action and provide care and support for others during their time of need. Thank you to everyone who have contributed and donated an item from the wish list.

As we are unable to host our end of year Mass this year due to COVID restrictions the final details are currently being organised regarding the logistics of the presentation of the hampers. We will still be asking for representatives from each homeroom in addition to staff who are leaving to be involved in the presentation as part of an open-air celebration. Details will be included in the morning announcements and our social media pages as soon as possible. The events that have unfolded during 2020 have required us to be innovative and creative so we are planning something that will allow us all to celebrate and inspire others to commit to active ministry.

The MCC staff have also created Christmas hampers to be given as part of the Christmas appeal and in addition; have donated a wide range of food stuff, beverages, gift items; as well as hobby or novelty items to create a basket of goodies to be raffled and drawn on our final working day for the year. All funds raised are to be given to Needy Paws. One of the unfortunate outcomes of 2020 was that we were unable to hold our normal stewardship activity to support this vital service. I am sure “Pyramids for Puppies” will make a return in 2021 however for the interim I am asking staff to dig deep (yet again) so we can do our part.

We will only have one more edition of our newsletter for the year so I hope to reflect on the year that was and also to take time to farewell Mr Neville. Heath has been an integral part of the C.A.T and we will be forever grateful for his support, enthusiasm and shared vision. On behalf of the C.A.T I would like to wish Heath and his family all the best as they embark on the next chapter of their journey.
