Junior School Learning

Health & Physical Education

For Health and PE this week, Junior Students have been learning about eating healthy fruits and vegetables. We read a book called “Up, Down and Around” and talked about the different ways fruits and vegetables grow. We then drew our favourite fruits and vegetables. The students pictures were so colourful. Some even took us on a tour of their Veggie gardens. It’s great to see them enjoying so many healthy fruits and vegetables that will give them energy to learn and be active.

Inquiry

This week students had to choose a project from around the house to clean up or redesign then post a before and after photo of their handy work.  It was great to see students cleaning up their rooms and desks, washing cars, animals and even folding up the washing!

Visual Arts

Well done to all students on their very creative art projects. The following art works are from Halle, Hunter and Henry.

Writing

Students in Grades 1/2 did an amazing job this week of describing pictures of different settings. It was hard to choose just two pieces of work for the newsletter. There were so many excellent examples of adding detail to descriptions using the description bubble.

'On a hot summer day, on a quiet, sandy beach in the middle of nowhere, the beautiful yellow sun was shining over the sand and ocean. I sat on my soft and purple fluffy towel on the long sandy beach with nobody around except one little hermit crab and two big birds. The hot circular sun made the warm ocean sparkle blue and aqua.'
