Junior School Learning

Learning Can Wait Day

What a fun day we had in Prep/1 last Wednesday for ‘Learning Can Wait’ Day. Students spent the day reconnecting with family, going on adventures, having time off screens/devices or participating in activities run by teachers.

For those who chose to participate in the activities online, we enjoyed reading ‘The Pidgeon Needs a Bath’, this was followed by a guided drawing activity with Mrs Fletcher, a quiz, a hardcore workout with Mrs McHenry and Show & Share.

It was great to see so many faces pop in and say ‘hello’ to their peers!

Guided Drawing with Mrs Fletcher.

Students followed along with Mrs Fletcher to draw a house on a hill.  Once they completed the outline of the drawing they were then able to go off an add colour and other details.

With Mrs Wells and Miss Kearney

Thanks to all the 1/2 students who participated in the ‘Learning Can Wait’ day on Wednesday. Students heard Mrs Wells read ‘The Gruffalo’ and joined in movement games and a general knowledge quiz. They learnt how to draw a shark and a penguin with Miss Kearney and joined her in a group exercise activity. Students had the chance to share something they made in ‘Show and Share’.

Well done to all the students who joined in some or all of the activities. Mrs Wells and Mrs Kearney were so impressed by how well the students managed the timetable for the day and how good they were at using Google Meet to communicate.

For those students and families that chose to use the day to enjoy other activities, we hope you had a great day. A break from lessons gave us all a chance to focus on our wellbeing.

Junior School Art with Ms Belcher

During art online we have been looking at Pop artist Andy Warhol and the works of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. From the art seen below I have been TOTALLY blown away with the love, care and skill put into ALL the art pieces! Here are just a few examples of the AMAZING ARTISTS at Teesdale Primary School!

Thank you soooo much to all students for the massive effort and time put into the all activities and for the parents pulling out the art supplies, especially that BLACK paint!

It has also been really lovely to meet so many people on the google meet.

Science

A big thank you to all students and parents for joining in science each week. It’s so nice to see all the budding scientists conducting experiments at home and doing all the optional extra tasks. Junior Students have been on the hunt for mixtures and they have found them all over the home. Great job Juniors!
