Mr Irwin's Message

Hi Families and welcome to this week’s edition of the Newsletter.

Yesterday you will have received an email regarding Student Wellbeing Conferences. These will occur on Friday the 11th of September. As remote learning continues and the prospect of a return to school remains unknown at present, we are keen to use conference time we have with students to ensure we have a good understanding of how they’re feeling and can respond and provide additional support if required.

Our learning hub is providing good continuity of academic progress for students however this year has been particularly challenging on everyone's wellbeing and mental health. I think it’s important to make this a priority for discussion with students.

Before the Friday catch up students will be provided with some questions to think about responses to which will drive the discussion. A reminder this conference time is student led and not a parent teacher meeting. In the fifteen minutes you have together with your child’s teacher it's the student that should be at the centre of discussions. Parental questions or concerns can always be discussed by approaching your child’s teacher at any time during the year.

Parent’s Club Google Meet

As well as supporting student wellbeing we are keen to support the wellbeing of our families too. Last week our Parents' Club started a weekly Google Meet session. This is nothing more than a time to have a chinwag with some other parents and I’d encourage those who are missing that school gate connection to put the kettle on, jump on this google meet and engage with some other parents. A big thanks to Gen and Soph for running with this idea.

More information about this is available on our Parents' Club Facebook Page.

Potato Olympics

Finally, don’t forget to have your Potato ready for tomorrow’s Olympics! All activities will be posted on each Learning Hub.

See you on Friday morning for our live assembly!
