Student Well-being

Spotlight:

Year 3/4 Community

Focus: Relaxation and Coping Skills

In our Wellbeing sessions, the Year 3/4 students have been experiencing different relaxation and calming tools. It is an extremely relevant time for students to practice relaxation skills, as they have been worrying about the outside world, some of their parents are experiencing difficulties with jobs and they are missing their friends big time!

Students have been participating in guided meditation, listening to music, tai chi, running, dance and focusing on their breathing. Students identified which activity was most relaxing for them. We discussed that people find different things relaxing and it's important to find our favourite relaxation activities. Some people find reading books lying on a picnic rug outside relaxing, while some people find cleaning their bedroom whilst listening to music relaxing.

Students drew pictures of what relaxation looks like for them. Below, Wil has drawn himself relaxing on a hammock and Kingston has drawn himself relaxing on a sun-bed at the beach. Both of these options sound pretty good to me!
