What’s happening across our Learning Communities?

Year Prep

The Year Preps are travelling the world! For the next few weeks, the Year Preps are learning about different countries and cultures. They are looking at pictures, reading lots of information and thinking about what they have found out. To share their information they are creating postcards about each country. Take a look at their Australia trip!

Next destination - China and Italy!

Year 1 and 2

The Year 1 and 2 Community are finding out about their culture and how they are the same and different to their friends in their class. They made a poster about themselves and their culture. Once they had thought about themselves, they chose a country to find out more about. Look at the pictures of the padlet to see their wonderings.

Year 3 and 4

Over the past month, the Year 3 and 4 Community have been participating in Author Studies. They have studied the books of Aaron Blabey and Jeannie Baker. As part of the ‘deep dive’ into the Aaron Blabey books like Pig the Pug and Thelma the Unicorn, the children had to identify similarities and differences in how Aaron Blabey draws and writes. They used a Venn Diagram to show their learning.

Year 5 and 6

The Year 5 and 6 community had a wonderful week last week with their virtual camp and it's back to work this week! Over the term, they have been learning about our system of government and how they can be makers of change.

They are now choosing issues to create campaigns of change. Some of the issues the community has identified are homelessness, climate change, racism, COVID 19 and littering. Over the next few weeks, they are working through a design thinking process (see image below) to create their campaign. We will share more in the weeks to come!
