The Summer Uniform consists of a regulation grey (Years 5 – 10) or white short sleeve shirt (Years 11 and 12) that does up at the collar and is worn with the College tie. The College blue shorts or grey trousers (Years 7-12 only) are worn at the waist supported by a black belt. If wearing shorts our boys wear the College long socks with garters, or black or grey socks with the long pants. Footwear must be black leather lace-up shoes that take a shine.
On colder days the College jumper is able to be worn. The College rain jacket can be worn on wet days or as part of their Sports Uniform. The College Uniform also includes the College Backpack.
Summer Uniform items are available for sale in the Uniform Shop.

Where there is a will there is a way. The Film Festival Committee have worked hard to showcase students who are Pursuing their Passions to bring the Film Festival to the St Pius Community in these difficult times. This year’s films are as diverse as ever with documentaries, horror, athletic feats, action and fashion featuring amongst the exciting entries. The competition results will be announced next week. In the meantime the films are available for viewing on this ClickViewOnline playlist https://clickv.ie/w/xMwo. Parents should ask their son to login into Clickview.
Be sure to check out the promo video and the introduction by Year 11 organisers Oliver Robson and Ben Mooney.

Last week, Mr Donnelly set apparatus to measure Projectile Motion. Marbles were inserted into a marble launcher and students measured the distance the marbles travelled in the air (dependent variable). Participants changed the angle of the marble launcher (independent variable) each time with values ranging from 10 through to 60 degrees.
Some of the Year 11 Science Club Assistants collated the results in a table on the board and found that the optimal angle for the greatest projectile distance was ….. 45 degrees!!!
Time prevented us improving reliability by repeating the launches, however we all learnt something and enjoyed our lunchtime.
Next Day 4 Lunchtime at Science Club we will be farewelling our Yr 12 Leaders, as it will be their last Science Club. Please join us if you can.

The Science Experience is a fun 3 or 4 days of science activities for Year 9 and 10 students in 2020 program year.
Each program is designed to provide students who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating science activities under the guidance of scientists who love their work.
The program takes place in over thirty-five universities and tertiary institutions, within many different laboratories and lecture theatres. Participants perform experiments in the laboratories, meet and hear senior lecturers in the lecture theatres, attend site visits and walk around and experience what it is like to be on the campus of a university or tertiary institution. More than 80,000 students have taken this rare opportunity, up to date.
The program also provides information about further studies in science, technology and engineering. It highlights the wide range of careers that allow students to pursue their interest and abilities in the sciences.
