Last week was NAIDOC week and we made bracelets with beads using the colours of the Aboriginal flag - red, yellow and black. We also learned an Indigenous dance and we each presented our own interpretation of an Indigenous dance representing an Australian animal.
In English, we are learning about digraphs and how they can be two letters but only make one sound such as the digraph ‘ck’. The storybook we are reading this week is Gorilla by Anthony Browne and we are learning new vocabulary ‘thrilled’, ‘tingling’, and ‘gently’.
Last week we finished our pattern unit and we practised making two and three patterns with different objects. We also discovered that we can create patterns with numbers that count forwards and backwards by 1’s and 2’s.
In PDHPE, we are learning about being healthy and safe. We discussed how to have healthy relationships with each other and how to be safe at school and at home.
In Science, we continue to test how different forms of force can move objects. In Creative Arts, we made sculptures out of pipe cleaners to represent our version of ‘fireworks’. We were very impressed and proud of our creations.
Last Thursday, we celebrated our 100th day at school. We had lots of fun participating in activities related to the number 100. We wrote 100 words, drew a picture of what we would look like when we are 100 years of age. We made things out of 100 cups, 100 Lego pieces and 100 blocks. We did 100 sit ups also. Phew! What a day!!
We would like to wish you all a wonderful holiday. Be safe and stay healthy. We will be wearing our summer uniform next term and Thursday will still be our yellow coloured sports day uniform.
