Classroom News - Year 3

Miss Outridge, Mrs Croft and Miss Limen

PDHPE

In PE we start our lesson with a warm up. Last week we used team building activities to get our bodies warmed up and ready for the game.  Then we moved on to soccer skills followed by a game.

Musica Viva

Year 3 were lucky enough to have a zoom visit from Musica Viva. We heard the story of Da Vinci's apprentice. We still had a chance to interact with the musicians, answer questions and take part in the fun.

Mathematics

Year 3 have been working very hard in their Maths block time. We always have the same routine for each Maths block: warm up, explicit teaching, group work and reflection. Year 3 particularly enjoy the warm up 'Around The World', practicing their timetables. Once we move into group work, we work in small groups and individually. This week our focus has been on Data.

Religion

Last week was a very special week for Year 3 who took part in 2 Sacraments, Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. It was a very important step in their journey as Catholics and the Year 3 teachers felt very lucky to be able to teach and guide them through this experience.

As part of our Reconciliation unit we have been reading the parable of The Prodigal Son. 3C got the chance to act out this parable in small groups.

Other News

With Year 6 having an excursion to Canberra this week (without leaving the comfort of school), Year 3 decided to follow suit and jump on a plane to their Asian exhibition. We enjoyed trying on the traditional dress, playing traditional instruments and using the shadow puppets. Thanks to Mrs Walters, Mr Garraud and Mrs Gollan for setting up this fantastic experience.
