All students at Langwarrin Primary School are encouraged to participate in The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge (PRC). The PRC is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 18 September, 2020.
I have registered our school and all students in every grade in the PRC. We started this challenge in March.
Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 6 are challenged to read 15 books.
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers. In Term 4, these certificates will be sent to our school and then classroom teachers will be given these certificates to hand to their students.
To read the Premier’s letter to parents, view the booklists and for more information about the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, visit: www.education.vic.gov.au/prc.

'MANAGING YOUR FAMILY'S WELLBEING DURING REMOTE LEARNING'
We are pleased to be able to offer a session called “Managing your family's wellbeing during remote learning,” to parents at your school remotely!
We are a team of Student Support Services provisional psychologists who are very aware of the increased challenges faced by parents during remote learning. During the current pandemic, parents are juggling many different roles and understandably experiencing greater levels of stress and new challenges. We are offering a wellbeing telehealth session focused on the difficulties faced by parents during remote learning and plan to discuss some tips and strategies to help guide their wellbeing.
Feel free to advertise this opportunity to all parents at your school!
Please indicate on return email by 14th of September parent interest including number of interested participants or any questions you may have to: provisionalpsychDET@outlook.com
Further information will then be provided on how sessions will be conducted.
We look forward to partnering with you!
