Catholic Identity and Mission

Mr John Ryan - Deputy Principal

Each day the College include a prayer of the learning platform. It is vital we listen to God’s voice to sustain our strength as a family and as a community of God’s people.

On Friday, we included a prayer; “My Family is God's Gift,” Jesus taught us the importance of family prayer when he said:

“Where two or three are gathered together in my name, then I am in the midst of them.”

Matthew 18:20

The family is the most important community to which we belong. Our family is a gift from God. It with the family that we first experience God's love, through the love our parents have for us. It is through the love that flows in the family that we first find God because God is love.

Maybe you could try this prayer at mealtime with your family.

Grace before a Meal

Bless us O Lord, and these your gifts which we are about to receive.

Through Christ our Lord,

Amen.

Walkathon 2020

The College continues to be an instrument of God’s work in the community. On October 19, we hope to have a modified College Walkathon. It is our wish to sponsor three charities this year. It will also be ten years since the canonisation of St Mary of the Cross.

  1. Vinnies Leongatha: The College wants to support local families and Vinnies is able to do this.
  2. Trinity Families: Formerly the Bishops Family Foundation, this charity supports families needing assistance throughout the Gippsland region.
  3. MacKillop Today: sponsoring this organisation sees us distributing monies to those in need outside our region.

The College will distribute Walkathon Cards in the first week of Term 4.
