Relieving Principal's Report - Mrs Karam

Dear Parents/ Carers

END OF TERM MESSAGE

Thank you to our entire Fairvale PS Community for another wonderful term. I want to thank everyone for their contribution to ensure we remained safe, healthy and happy during the past few months. It has been a challenging year for everyone but it has been a delight to see our students attending school each day with a smile on their face. I hope you take the time to rest during the break and enjoy spending time with family. We will continue to update you on the latest guidelines and advice for Term 4.

FUTURE SCHOOL PLAN + VISION STATEMENT

We have been busy collecting and analysing internal and external data to help shape the future of Fairvale Public School. We have drafted a ‘School Vision Statement’ which contains values that underpin the future of Fairvale Public School. The draft vision statement has been created as a reflection of our whole school community of students, parents and staff. We would like to get valuable input from our parents/carers and community. This feedback will help to shape the future of Fairvale PS. Please click on the link below and let us know what you think of our draft vision statement and any other suggestions.

PARACHUTING AROUND THE SCHOOL WITH MRS KARAM;

MUSIC: Last week I visited class 2T in the music room. They were learning to play the Glockenspiels and I was very impressed with the level of learning. Mrs Olivera was teaching the class how to play on the glockenspiels by following a beat. I really enjoyed seeing the students in 2T happily learning and playing multiple beats. Well done 2T!

LIBRARY: This week I visited Mrs Orwin in the library with class 1D. They were reading the book ‘We’re Stuck’. The students really enjoyed reading and discussing the characters from the book. The students then engaged in a talking activity where they had to identify the characters occupations. It was lots of fun!

PDHPE: Last Wednesday I visited class 5C in the hall with Miss Berry. The students had written an interpretative dance based on the story of the Rainbow Serpent. The students worked in small groups and took turns presenting on the stage. I was so impressed with how well they worked together to choreograph the dance. Amazing!

HEALTH/DRAMA: This week I visited class 3L during a health/drama lesson with Mrs Tudman. The students were learning about skill acquisition. The class discussed the importance of learning new skills and completed their own skill acquisition. Class 3L learnt how to flick cards using a technique similar to pitching a ball in baseball. It was very rewarding to see how excited and enthusiastic the students were at learning a new skill. Well done!

ONLINE PLAYGROUP:

This week I visited Mrs Hamawi and Mrs Houlyace while they were filming online lessons for playgroup. Each week they have been creating videos for our playgroup families and uploading them to Seesaw. This week I was invited to join the video. Mrs Hamawi and Mrs Houlyace also prepare individual work for our playgroup students that they can complete at home.

HOLIDAY WRITING TASK

The Multicultural team has organised an optional holiday letter writing activity. The youngest child in each family has been given a pack with a note outlining the letter writing task along with a lined piece of paper to write on and a prepaid addressed envelope. The idea is that during the holidays students will write a letter to the school about any cultural celebration they celebrate and they can include pictures or photographs. Each family can write one joint letter. We can’t wait to receive the letters in the post.
