Principal's News

Yarra River - Original - thanks Sue Scroggie

Dear All,

Thank you again to everyone for the ongoing  support with your child's learning. We do understand this has its ups and downs and is now beginning to draw out and the enthusiasm is waning some what . Please remember to only do what your family can deal with and if we can assist in any way please let us know .

We are also thankful to  those members of our community who have taken the time to acknowledge and thank our staff for the wonderful and tireless work they are doing. Though others are feeling weary, the staff are still very much full of life and enthusiasm. The messages of thanks and support  have been much appreciated by all of us.

We are again another week closer to holidays and the COVID numbers are heading in the right direction and hopefully that slippery slide to the end comes quickly.

We have been noticing lately that many of our students are logging onto their Meets in the morning with their cameras off. As teachers are greeting children and giving instructions, it is quite disconcerting to speak to an emoji in addition, it is also difficult to connect with them. From tomorrow teachers will ask all students to have their cameras on for their Meets and when instruction time is happening. We do understand that internet issues can happen and maybe there are other reasons, but please just email the teacher and let them know if this is an problem.

Antonella met with our Student Leaders who reported 'They are ok and trying to keep up with their online learning".   Some are experiencing screen fatigue and are having some internet issues. The School Leaders also offered suggestions for Funday Friday as they like to end the week in a fun way which will be taken back to the classes. Thanks leaders for your feedback.

And the big news,  Edition 2 of The Trinity Times is out. There has been a HUGE interest in contributing articles and ideas and pre sales is huge. Once again thanks Finn for the work that goes into this.

Antonella also hosted a 'Stay Connected Meet' on Tuesday afternoon for the children to share what they have been doing at home. It was great to see the student across different classes excitedly reconnecting.

Trinity Spoonville

Have you heard of Spoonville? It is a spoon village created by the community to decorate the gardens or nature strips of our neighbourhood during remote learning. We are setting up our own Trinity Spoonville and we invite all members of our Trinity community to get involved and create your own Spoonville character. It doesn't have to be a spoon as such, but any wooden fork, spoon, stick seems to work best. As we are approaching the final weeks of Term 3 we are hoping this task will help promote the wellbeing of the students while also re-establishing the physical connection with the school by coming down to drop off your characters. The Village will be set up just inside the front windows for all to see for the rest of this term.

You can be as creative as you like and make characters including; cartoon favourites, footy players, animals etc. Use any materials you have at home; paint, pom poms, ribbons but textas work just as well. So once you have created your character take a walk to school and drop it off outside the front door in the tub during school time and we will add it to the Trinity Family. If you don't have any spoons you could create your own Mindfulness Stone with a kind message on it - there are some pictures below to give you some ideas. We will also leave a pot with a few spare spoons we have if you don't have any.

Have fun and get creative. Thanks to Rachel McLeary for initaiting this.

Meet Our Families

You have nearly met all the Trinity Staff, so now it's your turn. We would love you to send a photo and short blurb to introduce your family to our Trinity Community. It is not the usual way of introducing ourselves and feeling connected but these are unusual times. Please email me at principal@tcs.catholic.edu.au

School Closure Day

As previously advised we had moved one of our Professional Learning days this term to Friday 4th September when Leaders from The Catholic Education Office will work with all our staff (via Zoom) on our pre-review work. There will be no school onsite or remotely on this day for students. Students are welcome to finish off their work or simply relax.

School Accounts

You should have received a current statement in regard to fees. At this time, when some in our school community grapple with unprecedented changes to finances, emotional wellbeing and physical health, I want to reassure families who are impacted financially by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that we want to assist you in every way possible to continue your child’s enrolment at Trinity. If you have concerns about your financial situation, please contact Julie in the office on 9428 7180 or email admin@tcs.catholic.edu.au so that we can explore confidential financial support tailored to your circumstances. We are absolutely committed to working with our families as we get through these challenging times.

Welcome to new preps 2021

We are beginning to  welcome and prepare our 2021 preps. This week as part of their transition we have posted (I hope they receive it) a Trinity Book to help them learn the school routine and familarise themselves with the physical space. We a have also invited our 2021 Preps to a Zoom Get to Know Each Other session later in the term. We are really hopeful that our onsite transitions program can go ahead in October.

Meet our Staff

Hello, my name is Maryanne Gorman.

In 2020 I am teaching Year 4 / 5  in the Senior Level at Trinity Catholic School, a very special place to work.

I was lucky enough to grow up on a farm in North-East Victoria and have a love of animals, particularly dogs and horses.  I am also  lucky to have a large and extended family and love spending time with them.  I have three wonderful grown up sons, Conor, Declan and Partick, who live nearby.

During ISO, I  keep myself busy doing some gardening, walking, barracking for the Richmond Tigers and developing my cooking skills.  Some of my favourite times are when I am travelling and exploring new places BUT my most favourite time is being at school with my students!  I can’t wait to get back to the classroom and to our friendships and normal routines in Term 4.

Renee Heraud - Learning Support Officer

Hi beautiful TCS community! I’m Miss Renee, one of the many Learning Support Officers here at Trinity! I graduated from a Bachelor of Primary Education last year and started working at TCS at the beginning of this year. I love working with and watching all of our students flourish as learners here at Trinity! Outside of school I love baking yummy treats, being active, sewing and stealing lots of cuddles from my nephew Elias and my kitten Nylah!

Patrice Evans- Reading Recovery

I am the Reading Recovery teacher and have the pleasure of working with year one students opening up their world to literacy. My husband’s name is Jon and our children are Maddie, Grace, Tom and Alice. They are all adults now either working or studying. We are all still living together with our much loved pets; our dog Cooper and cat Gigi. During COVID-19 times, I love reading, walking and listening to podcasts. At the moment, Jon and I have been known to binge on Netflix as well. I especially love spending time with family and friends and can’t wait to have a party to see everyone again. I know I will be waiting for some time yet but I know it will be a good one!

Miss Urania Rivas- Grade 2/3 teacher

Hi everyone, I am Miss Rivas and I am the Grade 2/3 teacher this year. This is my second year at Trinity Catholic School and I am really enjoying it. I am originally from Canada but have lived in Melbourne for over 3 years now. Some of my hobbies include listening to music, reading books, and cooking. I like to stay active by going on long walks or doing yoga. I enjoy learning about other cultures and trying new foods from different places. Something I would like to learn to do is to paint and take some classes to practise my French. I am a huge animal lover and enjoy visiting zoos in each new city I visit. Hope you enjoy the rest of your year at Trinity!

Thanks again everyone for your efforts and messages of thanks and support. We are nearly there.
