Principal Team Editorial

Welcome to the 2022 school year!

So far it has been a very positive start to the new year with encouraging feedback from staff, students and parents. Teachers have focused heavily on implementing orderly learning environment practices, after a very disrupted last two years and the impact of this has been evident when travelling around the school and visiting classes. There is definitely a nice calm feel to our school when you walk around and visit students and teachers during the learning. Clearly, students are relishing the return to school after a relaxing holiday break and they are looking forward to a year that will hopefully be free of disruptions and restrictions. In particular, I would like to welcome our Year 7 students and families who have joined us for the first time in 2022. the Year 7's have had an excellent start to their school journey and are no doubt looking forward to plenty of highlights in the year ahead. Finally, I would also like to welcome new students and families, who have joined us in other year levels. We look forward to working with you in the years to come and appreciate the confidence you have shown in us with your enrolment at our school.

The start of the year has also brought with us many new staff and teachers in significant leadership positions.

We are very excited to have these people join us this year:

Fortunately, last week we were able to hold our Valedictory Presentation event for the class of 2021. The Grand on Cathies Lane was the venue for close to 350 attendees who were there to celebrate the amazing achievements of last years Year 12 group, that triumphed in a of significant disruption. The class of 2021 had their entire VCE or VCAL experience interrupted and effected by pandemic in their last two years. To be able to overcome all of the obstacles that were thrown their way in those final two years is testament to the commitment and drive that these students continued to display during that time. Congratulations to all Year 12 students from 2021, especially our Dux Richard Ha who achieved an ATAR score of 98.95!!!

College Council 2022

I would like to draw your attention to information that is contained in this newsletter in relation to the Election of College Councillors for 2022. I would encourage parents and students who might be interested in considering a nomination to make contact with me so that I can answer any questions that you might have. I am looking forward to working closely with College Council this year as we strive to improve this great school even further!
