Our first week back with students got off to a great start and it has been wonderful to see so many smiling faces both in the yard and in the classrooms. The campus has already been a hive of activity, with lots of programs getting underway. It was wonderful to welcome Mrs Davis, Mrs Micallef and Mr Skilbeck to the campus, as well as the return of Mrs Arts with SC1. The students absolutely loved their first week with all staff and we have a set a strong platform for the year ahead. All students should be extremely proud of the way that they have kicked off 2022!

Meet and Greet/Picnic Afternoon

Next Tuesday we have our Meet and Greet afternoon. We would love to see as many parents attend as possible as this time provides a great opportunity to discuss aspects of your child’s learning as well as any other important information that we might need to know for the year ahead. Bookings can be made via Compass.

We would also encourage families to bring along a picnic during the afternoon, and spend some time at the campus when not in your meeting time. Students and family members are welcome to use the playground and oval area.

Prep Interviews

Reminder Prep interviews will continue to be held each Wednesday for the month of February. Please see Compass for your individual time.  Preps do not attend school on these days, except when their allotted interview time is. The Prep interviews take approximately 1 hour and assess each student's individual point of need in Literacy and Maths as well as give us an insight into what they already know. Parents are welcome to leave during this time as they are not required for the interview.

Scotsburn Assemblies

This year we are going to trial holding our campus assemblies once a fortnight on Friday afternoons. This provides a great way to wrap up the week with a celebration and we hope to include lots of awards, showpieces of work and performances. We will aim to start these at approximately 2.50pm, with our next one scheduled for Friday 18th of February.

While the weather is kind to us, we will hold these outside on the concrete area. If you would like to come and attend our assemblies while they can be held outside, we would love to see you.

Family Groups

This year we are going to run weekly family groups, on Fridays between 11.30am and 1pm. These sessions provide a fantastic opportunity for students to work in multi age group classes, promoting mentoring, kindness and unity. Please see below for the groups and schedule. This week is Week 3.

Bus Travellers

If your son/daughter is a bus traveller and you haven’t already done so, please contact Mel in the office at the Buninyong Campus to complete the required forms. A reminder that if travel plans change on any certain day, please call the Scotsburn Campus or come and see the bus duty teacher before collecting your child. This will save any confusion when doing the bus roll.

Lunch orders

The canteen will be back up and running for lunch orders each Wednesday and Friday. Please use the QKR app to order these.

Masks

For Grade 3 to 6 students, please remember that masks are required to be worn at all times when indoors. We have a small supply of disposable masks, however we would be grateful if you could please send a mask along with your child each day.

For Prep to Grade 2 students, it is still highly recommended that masks are worn indoors.

Icy poles

Our Grade 6 students will be back selling icy poles on Fridays for $1. We will also sell these on a few other scheduled hot days over the next few weeks. Don’t forget your gold coins!

SC1

SC1 students are settling into their classroom beautifully! Last week, and this week, we are exploring the ‘Learning to Learn’ program that sets students up for a successful year. We have been focussed on  building friendships and how to be a good friend, creating routines and constructing expectations that allow us all to successfully learn. It is fantastic to see the wonderful input that each student puts in to ensure we are all happy, safe and learning at school.

SC2

SC2 got off to a great start. It has been wonderful to see all of the students calm, settled and ready to learn. We have been focussing on our ‘Learning to learn’ program and setting up expectations for the year, looking at our school values and slowly easing back into life at school.

SC3

In SC3 we have started with a bang! The class has worked maginificently in developing a strong class culture with a focus on teamwork and promoting individuality and confidence. We are also working through developing some class trademarks, which will form the basis of how we want the classroom to operate throughout the year.

For some fun team building time, we have been playing lots of “Minute to Win It” games. See some photos below for all of the action!

Below is a photo from our Campus assembly last Friday, where we presented our Grade 6 leaders, Tully, Xavier and Aiden, with their Grade 6 jumpers. We know these three boys will lead the campus well this year!
