Visual Arts

Year 7
Students have developed their understanding of the elements of art and applied their understanding to plan and create artworks. They have researched art movements and artists including Monet and Picasso and created paintings, sculptures, and photographs with outstanding results. Students have used Impressionist and Cubist painting techniques to create brilliant artworks. During the sculpture unit, students were challenged to create a sculpture with a range of mediums.
Year 8
Year 8 have explored Australian artists and how they convey a sense of culture and identity through their works. They have created works in paint and linocut prints that show aspects of who they are as teenagers growing up in Australia, their likes, their hobbies, interests, and their culture. Students have also studied Street Art, and produced works such as paste-ups and have used spray paint and stenciling. Their Street Art studies culminate in working together on a large-scale wall project.
Year 9
Enthusiastic, creative and determined, Year 9 Visual Arts students have explored a diverse range of concepts and art forms. Students have created video artworks using virtual reality software, kinetic sculpture with recycled materials and paintings about personal identity. Students researched and analyzed modern and contemporary artworks.
Year 10
Year 10 have developed skill in a range of techniques including drawing, painting, and sculpture. Students have enjoyed experimenting with media and new processes including performance and video art. Year 10 have extended their understanding of what art can be and how it is produced.
Year 11
Year 11 have researched a range of traditional, modern and postmodern artworks. Students have developed their understanding of the expressive forms and completed workshops in painting, drawing, printmaking, 3D and 4D art forms. Students have considered their own conceptual and material practice in order to discover ways to best communicate their artistic intention.
