GOAL SETTING

GOAL SETTING

Students will be actively involved in setting their own learning goals with their parent(s) and teacher(s) early this semester.  Conferences will occur in weeks 6 and 7 of this term. By reflecting on their learning, students set a personal and achievable goal that is relevant to ‘the next step’ in their learning.

Goals are based on the Keys to Success (Organisation, Getting Along, Resilience, Persistence and Confidence) and are the core of all learning, regardless of subject area or year level.

Students will reflect and give feedback on whether they are achieving their goal and collect evidence of how they have met their goal.  They will seek and action feedback from peers and adults and be able to explain and show evidence of how feedback has enabled them to achieve their goal.

Other small personalised learning goals, such as reading goals and writing goals, will also continue this semester.

INDIVIDUALISED LEARNING

When students have formative ongoing or summative assessments, individual students are given next steps in their feedback to to help improve individual learning. Summative personal learning goals for individuals are shared in your child's school report and these are areas you can support them at home. In Literacy assessments of reading and comprehension, or spelling. Individual goals are then set to assist each student to take the next sequential step to improve their learning. Small group tasks are set in Literacy to support the needs of individuals. Personal reading goals are sent home and these are worked on at home and school.

Individual feedback and goals are also set in Maths and students work in small groups and individual tasks as some students need extra time or greater stretch. As mentioned, personal learning goals are reflected on in Goal Setting meetings, they are personal to your child to help them be the best learner they can be.
