HOME AND SCHOOL ORGANISATION

DAILY ROUTINES

It has been fantastic to see the children  taking responsibility for their own belongings and being organised and ready to start the school day. Thank you for your support with encouraging this independence.

The morning routine involves students:

  1. Bringing in their own school bag, finding their locker and unpacking their bag
  2. Putting water bottles away.
  3. Returning any lunch orders or office notes into the basket or to the teacher.
  4. Signing in for the day.
  5. Placing library books or reading books into the returns box/basket (if applicable).
  6. Getting their fruit and book bag ready for Literacy learning.

We continue to encourage children to take responsibility for their own belongings at school. PLEASE ensure all personal belongings - hats, clothes, lunch boxes, drink bottles and especially school jumpers/jackets are clearly labelled. These items can be quite expensive to replace! Even though the weather might be wet and cold, students at L.N.P.S are required to wear a sun smart hat all year round.

FRUIT TIME

During the morning, we allow students to have a piece of fruit, preferably in a small container so that students do not need to bring their whole lunch box to their InitiaLit classroom. As the students continue working while they are eating their fruit, we ask that the fruit that they bring during this time is easy to eat for example grapes, bananas, apples etc.

BELL TIMES

REMINDER

Yard Duty commences daily at 8:30am.

Students should not be in the yard without parent supervision before this time and the Junior Primary playground is out of bounds.

This morning time should not be considered as a "play time", but instead an opportunity to catch up with their peers and get prepared and organised for the upcoming busy day. A calm entry into the classroom where their engine is running just right will support a successful start to the day.

8:50 - SCHOOL BELL

Doors will open at 8:50am and learning commences.

Roll books are marked between 8:50-9:00am. If your child is entering the classroom after this time, they will need to be signed in at the front office and will be marked late.

The following school times are:

Recess: 10:40am-11:10am

Eating time: 12:50pm

Lunch: 1:00pm - 1:30pm

Dismissal:  3:10pm

HOMEWORK GRID

Each term you will be emailed a homework grid. This is to help guide you with activities you can be doing with your child at home to help support learning that has happened at school.

At LNPS, our high priority focus is on reading. It is extremely important to your child’s development that they read daily, record it in their reading diary and practise their tricky words (which are located in the back of the reading diary).

PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE

The Premier's Reading Challenge is back for 2022. Once students have completed their form they can  hand it in to the Library. All students have been given a recording sheet to keep in their reading bag. They are required to read 12 books.  If you need another copy, you can download one from the Premier's Reading Challenge website or below.

*Reading concludes on the 9th of September 2022 (Week 7 Term 3).
