Around The Primary

Dear Parents

It has been wonderful see the students’ smiling faces throughout the last three weeks. Now that Years 4-6 swimming lessons are finished, we have been able to get into more of a routine! We are also very proud of the Year 1 and Year 2 students for becoming so independent using the loop ‘drive through’ in the mornings and afternoons.

I would like to thank all parents for your continued support and understanding as we navigate our way through the restrictions. We may need to do things a little differently now however we are doing our very best to ensure that most events and activities can continue in a safe manner and that teaching and learning remains our priority.

A summary of updates is as follows:

  • Parents to keep unwell children at home
  • Parents and caregivers can only come onto the school grounds for essential purposes and are to maintain social distancing.
  • Wear your mask around the school and when using the loop drive-thru for drop off and pick-up
  • Year 1-6 Parent Information Sessions will be made available through SEQTA next Friday 25 February (details to follow)
  • Assemblies and Primary Masses will not be running this term. Certificates will be distributed in classrooms and photos sent home.
  • Primary students will not be able to visit the canteen at lunch time for treats; Lunch orders continue as usual.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Kind regards,

Antoinette De Pinto

Dates to Remember

Tuesday 22 FebruaryPre-Primary Speech Screening begins

Please check the College Website to note all the important Primary school events for your family calendar. http://www.johnxxiii.edu.au/view/for-parents/calendars

SEQTA Kiosk

Late Arrivals, Early Departures, Appointments & Recurring Appointments

As part of our ongoing commitment regarding the safety and duty of care of our students, the College uses an electronic ‘Sign in and Sign Out’ program - ‘SEQTA Kiosk’ for all Primary students arriving late, leaving early or attending appointments during the day (including recurring appointments).

SEQTA Kiosk is available to use on the iPad located in Main Administration.  When a student is signed out, a printed ticket with the student’s photo will be produced and this is to be given to the classroom teacher (or teacher on duty if during recess or lunch).  If the student is returning to class, they will need to be signed back in on SEQTA Kiosk in Main Administration.

Students are not permitted to ‘sign themselves’ in or out. It is essential for Parents or Guardians to complete this process on each occasion their child/ren need to leave the College grounds.

Mrs Petsos in Primary Administration is happy to assist if you have any queries.

Online Parenting Talk Invitation

Our neighbouring school Loreto Nedlands has kindly invited us to join their online parenting talk hosted by Best Program 4 Kids. Claire Orange and Helen Davidson wrote the Highway Heroes Program and are well respected presenters. The topic of this talk is BRAVE parenting.

This workshop is a captivating and highly practical exploration of laying the foundation for successfully raising a resilient and well-regulated young person. It covers the 8 BIG R’s of BRAVE parenting – Role Modelling, Rules, Routines, Rewards, Respect, Regulation, Rating and Risks.
