Head of Junior Years

Mrs Maria Denholm

Our new Junior Years playground officially opened on 14 February and is very popular! The two Junior Years Ambassadors, Sandaru and Naysa cut the ribbon and declared the playground open. Our Head of Junior Years, Mrs Denholm then addressed the students and explained the correct way to use the equipment. We need to wait our turn, not eat, drink or run in the playground area and make safe choices. Everybody needs to wear their hat when they are on the playground.

The students had their first opportunity to use the playground and its equipment later that day.

Since then, the playground has been very popular and students have had the opportunity to challenge their bodies on the various pieces of equipment such as the tunnel slide, rope and net climbing walls and the fireman’s pole. They also have lots of fun on the mini trampoline, the various small slides and bridges as well as the monkey bars, swinging triangles and flying fox. It is great to have new equipment to enjoy. The rubber matting under the equipment is soft and spongy to walk on and provides extra protection.

There will be a pyramid climbing net added to the playground soon.  It is expected to arrive from Switzerland by the end of Term. We would like to thank Mr Mir and his Grounds team for organising the installation of this new play space.

A reminder that after school, students can only use the playground if their parents are actively supervising them, as there are no teachers on duty at this time.

As this wonderful addition to the school has much to offer, students have the opportunity to make use of this facility to improve their physical and mental well-being. We, the student leaders, endeavour to provide all the support and encouragement for the students to achieve their goals in extracurricular activities.
