Principals Team Report

Welcome to 2022 - "Achieving Excellence Together."

We hope your child has enjoyed the first couple of weeks back at school in 2022 - from our observations and conversations with the teachers and students that start of the new school year has been quite settled.

A special welcome to all of our new families who have started at Roxburgh Park Primary School. We do hope your children have transitions well and have quickly formed positive connections with their peers and teachers.

We have had the pleasure of visiting each of our classrooms and it's wonderful to see the social interactions within the community and the learning routines already visible.

A special thanks to all of our families as we navigate the ongoing challenges presented with COVID. We've had a number of staff absent, and your understanding and flexibility as arrangements continue to change in response to this is very much appreciated.

We'd also like to express our gratitude to families who have taken up the opportunity to be part of the surveillance testing with the Rapid Antigen Tests. Please remember to communicate with the school if your child tests positive and has attended school recently. The school will continue to report notifications of any positive cases each afternoon to the school community.  A second pack of test will be distributed to each student next week.

Celebrating 20 years as a school
Celebrating 20 years as a school

This year marks our 20 years as Roxburgh Park Primary School. When we reflect on the many achievements, celebrations and contributions our school has made since we opened its hard to list them all. Here are a few:

  • Everyday teaching and learning or reading, writing and maths
  • Developing student leaders through our Student Action Team
  • Celebrating success through PRIDE day and  Students of the week
  • Working together with Community Hubs Australia with our very own Community Hub
  • New Playgrounds, and facilities; including the Mark Thompson's Gym

We are immensely proud of each and every students, teacher, parent, volunteer, and staff member.

Each of us fulfills a piece of a larger puzzle that is Roxburgh Park Primary School and it's the small pieces that make that big picture.

To celebrate 20 years of Roxburgh Park Primary School we are hosting an Outdoor Movie Screening of Boss Baby: Family Business for all past, present and future families.

Please Pencil in Friday 25th March for this exciting event!!!

Respectful behaviours within the school community Policy:

Our school community has demonstrated incredible solidarity and resilience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Being back in our classrooms with extra health and safety measures is another big transition, but it’s the very best one for our children's education.

As we navigate these changes to onsite learning, including required mask wearing for some students, it’s more important than ever that adults in our school community treat each other with respect and kindness.

The Department of Education and Training has released a new policy that describes the positive behaviour expected from parents, carers, and other adults in Victorian school communities. The policy sets clear standards of behaviour to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for students, staff and adults.

There are also other resources to support safe and respectful relationships in our school community, including information about getting involved in the school, advice on how to raise a concern or complaint, and parenting support resources.

You can find the new policy and these resources here or alternatively an An Easy English version of this policy is available.

For more information on how to engage positively with our school, please contact any of us in the principal team or email principal@roxburghparkps.vic.edu.au.

Love of Reading:

The start of a new year presents many new opportunities for establishing the routines and expectations for learning.

To start our year all our students and teachers are involved in a Start Up program to set up expectations, routines and classrooms with our students.

We have already commenced the work in setting up classroom libraries within every classroom.

Students and teachers engage in a range of activities involving what their classroom libraries will look like, how they will be organised. This enable students to have access to books to support the literacy learning in classrooms.
