Year 7 students have settled in really well for the start of their Secondary Education. Lots of happy faces after maybe a nervous first day. I think we have chopped off at least 20 locks which is normal at the beginning of the year. We are now in week 3 and the students are confidently moving around the school with the correct equipment showing amazing organisation. The uniform is impeccable showing how proud the students are to wear it.
We are really enjoying the start to 2022 in MYR. Some subject work going on at the moment.

Year 9 Students have hit the ground running this year and have started to settle into their new classes really well. There was a year 9 cohort meeting on Tuesday afternoon where general expectations around class engagement and behaviour were set for the year. The cohort has set the bar high already and it is looking promising that we will be able to reach it.
Year 9 Science
Year 9 students are learning about chemical reactions in Science this term. They began the year by revisiting a favourite prac from last year – the hydrogen pop test.

Year 10 have hit the ground running and are focused on their learning. We have completed extended Mentor group sessions this week where students have been participating in 'getting to know you' activities. It will be an exciting busy term that will provide students with many opportunities in and out of the learning community.
Students are starting to experience the senior side of the school in their VCE , Vocation or standard year 10 classes. In HRC–Health ,Respect Relationship and Careers students this term students have started their learning focus on Students Profiles, Problem Solving and Stress Management.
We encourage all the year 10 students to consider the Leadership opportunities available to them currently. This will give students an opportunity to make an impact on their Year Level Community and School community. Good luck to year 10 students competing in the Swimming Carnival next week.

Welcome year 11 families to 2022. My name is Nick Chudoschnik and I am the year 11 Learning Community Leader for 2022.
Our students have hit the ground running upon return to school for what should be a very big year for everyone. Our students are finding their bearings very quickly with VCAL, VET and VCE.
As the students settle in to their senior years routines, it is important to acknowledge how challenging the past two years have been and congratulate their resilience in moving through these tumultuous times. Our community is looking forward to regular learning on site again, with as little interruption as possible.
In week 5 on the 25th of February, we are planning an afternoon for our VCE students where speakers from Deakin University and a past student will come to talk with our cohort regarding setting up their year for success. A similar event is in planning for our VCAL students at a later date, to be confirmed.
Well done on a great start with your learning, and good luck for a very successful year.
Kind regards,
Nick Chudoschnik
