Middle Sub School News

A warm welcome to everyone in Middle Years. I am looking forward to having many adventures with you all in 2022. This is my second year as Middle Years Sub School leader and I have really enjoyed being able to help support all the classes.

I started my career as an ES many years ago whilst working in a special school. During this time I also completed my Bachelor of Education before completing my Masters in Special Educational Needs. I have worked as a teacher in mainstream settings, special education settings, and now Autism settings. I have learned many skills from all of this experience and have come to find that I really enjoy working in this type of school. I have really enjoyed working as a secondary and middle years teacher at JSA. I used this time to connect to students, family, and staff and to learn the JSA way. I have been working as Sub School Leader since last year and found that I enjoy this role immensely.

I am looking forward to visiting the middle years' classrooms and taking time to participate in the classes. I enjoy going out on the playground to spend time getting to know the students. This year I am looking forward to again supporting our student leaders as they meet to plan special events days and activities around the school.

Middle years has enjoyed coming back to school this year. All of our classes have settled in and are enjoying visiting their favourite places around the school such as the Library, Art Room, Kitchen, Kitchen Garden, and especially the playground. Classes have been focusing on re-establishing routines and structure as well as developing positive social interactions with their classmates. Students have received many positive behaviour tickets and were excited when the ticket draw took place on Friday.

I am looking forward to seeing all the adventures the Middles Years get up to this year.
