Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting

Daniel Moloney
Assistant Principal
Hi there everyone!
Welcome back to JSA for the 2022 school year. Whilst we are expecting further consistency with onsite learning, we look forward to extended learning opportunities for our students to embed their skills and knowledge with their familiar teachers, achieving a range of milestones with all resources at hand.
Term 1 SSG Meetings
To start the year off, we have our Term 1 SSG meetings scheduled to commence next week from Monday 7th - Thursday 24th February. These meetings are an ideal opportunity to discuss your child's specific needs and goals for their personal learning and academic skills. These discussions are critical to helping finalise the selection of your child's learning goals, as outlined in their Personalised Learning Support Plan for the semester ahead.
Due to our current DET Guidelines, all SSGs will need to be conducted either online via WebEx or over the phone. You should expect a parent letter to arrive home soon in your child's diary for you to fill in and return to your child's teacher to confirm an agreed time to meet over the 3-week block.
Seesaw Online Platform
As part of our AIP, the implementation of Seesaw was a key school-wide strategy to enhance our parental access to view their child's learning in action as evidence of their achievements, voice and agency in their learning.
After a flurry of positive parent feedback in Term 4, the word is that Seesaw is regarded as an effective tool to exchange communication regarding your child's/children's learning progress throughout the year.
In 2022, we endeavour to continue this great work and develop innovative ways to use Seesaw. We hope to encourage families to upload examples of their children making specific learning connections at home when completing fun and simple tasks with their families, thus sustaining that positive two-way communication exchange we currently enjoy.
XUNO Online Platform - 2022 and beyond
Since 2020, XUNO has been our primary platform to log Student Incident Reports and track behavioural data to inform our broader focus for our JSA Expected Behaviours. This year, we have linked our XUNO platform to Accelerus, our assessment and reporting platform, to streamline key processes such as:
- parent access to your child's XUNO online student profile (Semester 1)
- parent access to student reports (PLSPs and Semester Reports) when available for distribution (Semester 1)
- online SSG booking system (Semester 2)
2022 Student Leadership
This year, we have a larger number of Student Leaders appointed than ever before: 24 in all.
We hope to continue to expand the work they do as representatives of their peers throughout the school: making key decisions, updating peers about our Cultural Calendar of events and handing out PBS tickets to their peers in the playgrounds acknowledging their great choices aligned with our school-wide expected behaviours.
This term, we will be holding our first ever Mini Olympics Extravaganza, which was rescheduled from July last year due to Covid-19. Our student leaders will be supporting the wonderful staff from Kaboom Kid's Sports to ensure a fun day for all on Monday, February 28th. Please observe the promotional poster, as attached.
Our 2022 Student Leaders are:
Blue House - Laith, Shivam, Tyler, Lucas and Kelly.
Green House - Oliver, Michael, Gabriel, Mason, Ali and Jonathan.
Red House - Christopher, Joshua, Patrick, Aayat and Katarina.
Yellow House - Christian, Aaron, William, Kaan, Saviour, Julian, Ahmad and Memphis.
