Friday 8 April
The long-awaited Year 12 Formal was finally held at L’Unica on Parkville. It had been originally scheduled for Week 3 of Term 1 but various COVID restrictions at the time saw it rescheduled to the last day of term. The event was a great success with all students, their guests and staff enjoying the night. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Year 12 students to let their hair down and celebrate a successful but very busy term.
What a memorable night! The students were dressed immaculately and I was very proud of the positive attitude and excitement towards the event. During the evening, Mr. Andritsos made a special appearance on the dance floor, showing off some of his amazing Greek dancing moves. There were numerous awards, some of which were voted on by the students prior to the evening and some that were awarded to students as a result of Mr DeCata and Ms Vajda’s impeccable judging skills on the night. Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity for students from different groups to interact with each other and enjoy an environment outside of the classroom.
A Year 12 Formal does not go smoothly without the support of many who give up their time. Firstly, thank you to the Senior Student Leadership Team for their input regarding the running of the evening, particularly Holly Gibney, Francesca Papandrea, Rose Abela, Mia Komarnycki and Bethany Prior, whose planning and attention to detail ensured the night ran smoothly. Thank you also to Kerry Stevenson, mum of Mia Komarnycki, who spent hours the night before the Formal decorating the venue with a beautiful balloon garland. Thank you also to Sr. Mary, Mr. Di Camillo and all the staff who supported the evening with their attendance. A special thank you must also go to Mrs Kerri Ruff who was so efficient in organising the tables, the Trybooking system and printing out the tickets and the numerous awards. Without her help, the night would not have run so smoothly. Finally, thanks to Mr. David Molino for his guidance on organising such a big event – it was much appreciated.
Well done and congratulations on a great start to the year, Year 12 students!
