VAPS PIPS Evening

31 August 5-9pm - University of Melbourne - Year 8 - 11 Students

For many years, VAPS has hosted a philosophy evening event (previously called a philosothon). Most recently, we ran this wonderful event at Wesley College in 2019 where eminent philosopher AC Grayling was in attendance.  Unfortunately with two COVID affected years we have missed out on such events.

We are happy to announce that we will be hosting an event again this year. The VAPS Philosophy in Public Spaces (PIPS) Evening at the University of Melbourne.

When - August 31 - 5:00 - 9:00pm

Where - University of Melbourne

Who - Up to 10 students per school between Years 8-11

Cost - $50 per student (subsidies available in a large number of categories)

In collaboration with the Philosophy Department at the University of Melbourne, we will be hosting this event from 5-9pm on Wednesday 31 August. This event is for students in Year 8 - 11.

The event will host multiple schools. Students from various schools will be placed in mixed-school groups. Students will participate in three communities of inquiry of different topics in mixed-school groups, facilitated by expert practitioners. Facilitators will acknowledge the contributions of students with votes for promising young philosopher awards. Students will acknowledge the contributions of their peers with votes for peer awards.
