A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Catholic Schools’ Week: Our Hope Filled Future

The combined schools mass at St Nicholas' Church was a special occasion for our students. The students enjoyed being involved in this mass led by Bishop Michael Kennedy.

I was so happy to see many parents and friends visit our school last Thursday for Catholic Schools' Week. The students and visitors participated in a liturgy, classroom visits and a shared lunch.  Special thanks to Jack Bennett for taking the photos and to Brandan Thompson for being our very own master chef! Thanks also to Mrs Hofman for making the slideshow.

Kinder Enrolments for 2023

Our school enrolment period for new Kinder students for 2023 is now officially open, so I ask our parents to spread the word to your family and friends. Enrolment forms can be located on our school website or ring Kate Thompson if you would prefer an enrolment pack sent home. Each family is also asked to book a time for a school tour and an interview with me.

Once again we are fortunate to be extremely well supported by the Catholic Schools Office and able to offer a separate Kinder class for 2023. This small class will ensure each student has a successful start to school life; with individual care and attention provided by our wonderful Kinder teacher Miss Pilgrim.

School Photos

It was lovely to see our students so well dressed for their school photos last week. Please ensure your child comes to school every day with the correct school uniform (this includes the tie). Taking pride in how you wear your school uniform shows respect for yourself and your school. Our school uniform also sends a message to the wider community and we want this to be a postive message... St Joey's students care about their appearance.

Kindness Corner

One of the character strengths we try to encourage the students to develop is Kindness. It is always heartwarming to see kindness in action with our students both in the classroom and on the playground. Last week I was amazed at the kindness displayed by Ryder Hird as he played touch football with a small group of students from the Infants. It was obvious the Kinder students didn’t know how to play yet Ryder patiently explained how to play and ensured each student was included. Great work Ryder, you are a superstar!

Have a wonderful week
