School Council

School Council President

Monday night saw our first in-person school council meeting in a very long time!  While it’s amazing that we live in a world where coming together online is an easy option, I had almost forgotten just how much nicer it is to actually see everyone.  There’s nothing quite like real human connection.

This months meeting started with a presentation from the architects behind our Phase 1 government funded building works.  Ben gave us a detailed look at what’s in store for us in this phase and while a lot of this will be necessary and greatly needed work such as roof repairs, there were a couple of elements that will be more visually exciting, and it was wonderful to see how they have used our beautiful grounds as inspiration for colour palettes and textures around the school.

We then moved on to our regular Agenda and heard from our sub-committees. Much of the discussion was around events being planned throughout the year and again it was wonderful to be hearing about the many opportunities we will have to connect in person…something that has been sorely missed by the Weeden Heights community.

Some of these events are yet to be announced so you will need to stay tuned, but some are already out there on School Stream such as the Open Night next week featuring student performances, specialist and class displays and of course the Lego Master Competition Display. Much effort has gone into organising this night by the students, school staff and the PFA and I hope to see many of you there!

We also heard from Kylie that in-person school tours are back, so if you know anyone with young children please make sure you encourage them to book an appointment via the Weeden Heights website or by calling the office.

As a final thought for the month, this Saturday is election day and if you are voting at Weeden Heights, make sure you drop in and grab a sausage and a cold drink at our election day BBQ to support the school.

Have a happy and safe weekend!
