Casey Tech Excursion 2

By Ms Miles - Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships Coordinator

Our Year 9 students got to experience the fantastic facilities at Casey Tech School from Tuesday the 5th to Thursday the 7th of April. Casey Tech School is a shared learning facility that delivers high-tech, leading-edge courses for our students. Our Year 9 students from 9E, 9F, 9H & 9K got to work collaboratively solving real world, industry-based problems.

The three day excursion involved innovative and real-world education programs in partnership with local industries, helping to provide students with the skills that underpin the global world of work in future growth industries.  The program emphasised the vital Enterprise and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills in an interdisciplinary and overlapping manner, with the aim of inspiring young people into future careers underpinned by STEAM.

The focus is aligned to industries that are predicted to experience strong economic and employment growth in the local area: Biomedical Technology, Healthcare, and Advanced Manufacturing.

It was great to see our Year 9 students experiencing external opportunities in our region to equip them with the skills and knowledge that they will use into the future as they continue on their journey of establishing a career direction. All of the students produced amazing prototypes and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
