Senior Soccer

The Senior Boys and Girls ventured to Mill Park Senior SC on Tuesday to compete in soccer.

The girls had one team and though under strength, did their best against Mill Park. They were ably commanded by Mrs Donna Thomas and ended as runners-up.

The boys had two Senior teams entered. The A team was led by Mr Thanh Nguyen who has been a very enthusiastic addition to our teaching staff this year. He was supported by yours truly who took the B team. The A team which Mr Nguyen took, won 2 of their games against Thomastown and Hazel Glen; unfortunately, they narrowly lost to Mill Park which was the deciding loss of the day. The B team which I looked after, played very well in their last 2 games but unfortunately, went down to Mill Park who were the eventual winners on the day – a strong side, to be fair.

There were many good performances especially from our goalkeepers and several goal scorers. The games were played fairly and in a good spirit. Well done to you all

Division Cross Country

Wow, what a fantastic day for the Division Cross Country with the sun shining. All students on the day ran a 3km run unless they were in the boys 16 – 20 categories where they ran a 5km run. The run had a few hills along the way making it a fantastic but hard course to run. On the day all the students that ran the course from Epping Secondary College have made it through to the next round on Wednesday 15th June. We also had one student who finished first in her race, so a big “well done” to Diviniya Breneger!

Tennis

The Year 8 girls Tennis team made it through to the NMR round where they started the day playing against a very strong Aitken College team and unfortunately lost. They then went on to play Diamond Valley, Northcote and Sacred Heart and won their games comfortably. The girls finished in second place overall. Well done and  what a great achievement.

Senior Badminton

It’s badminton season again and first up both Senior teams were lucky enough to win through to Region Finals on August 4th.  This event was played at the sparkling new sports venue at Diamond Creek Stadium with the playing conditions being amazing.  All students enjoyed their day competing in many exciting rallies, whilst having fun and havingan excellent work out.  A Couple of  items of note was the leadership from Ashtyn, Joshua, Ravya and Imani who sadly are playing their final years matches with the Mighty Ducks.  Also the opportunity given to two brothers, Sioeli (year 7) and Paula (year 12) to enjoy interschool sports day together.  From here the remaining 6 Mighty Ducks teams will strive to achieve the impossible = “A DUCKLING”, where all eight teams make it through to Region Finals.  Good luck to the Ducks!!

Senior Girls Netball and Senior Boys Footy

The Senior Girls Netball Team travelled to a fantastic new venue in Diamond Creek this year. They started the day strongly and won their first 4 games comfortably. However, in their last game they came up against a very strong Whittlesea side and unfortunately could not manage  a win. This put them 2nd on the ladder at the end of the day which is a fantastic effort and the girls were a credit to the school. Well Done Girls!

The Senior Boys Footy Team made their way down to our local footy club in Epping. The boys showed great sportsmanship and had a win against Whittlesea Secondary College. Their next two games against Hazel Glen and Mernda Central were much tougher games and were great competitors but unfortunately our boys could not quite get the win they were after. What a great day and congratulations to all involved.
