From the Principal

Dear Parents & Carers

A number of months ago I made the decision to retire and officially notified Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS). It has always been my intention to retire at my current age and enjoy retirement after over 35 years involved in Education as a Teacher, Learning Coordinator, Deputy Principal and Principal.  In that time I have spent over 12 years teaching  in London, Shanghai, Dubai and the Northern Territory . I look forward to the next stage in my life with mixed emotions.

It has been a privilege and an honour to serve the community of Queen of Peace. I have loved my 5 years at Queen of Peace and it has been a privilege to be the Principal at such an outstanding school. I wanted to leave while I still enjoyed coming to work each day.

Queen of Peace is a wonderful community that is blessed by having so many wonderful people to work with, such as, the teaching staff, Learning Support Officers, Leadership, office administration, Fr John, Fr Joseph and the families in the community. This community spirit was no more evident than last Friday at the ‘Colour Explosion Fun Run’.  It is the students who I will miss the most after being involved in Education since 1987.

On behalf of MACS, I am pleased to announce that Michael Ozbun has been appointed as the Acting Principal for Term 1 and 2 2023. MACS will advertise for a Principal early next year.

Michael will be supported by Erin Jenkins, our current Deputy Principal and Learning Diversity Leader as well as Josie Kirby who has recently been appointed as Acting Deputy Principal Term 1 & 2 2023.

I know you will all join me in congratulating Michael and Josie on their appointments.

I would like to thank Fay Forde for taking on the role of President of the Parents & Friends Association over the last two years and the other members of the Executive Committee for their time, passion, enthusiasm and dedication.

This group clearly demonstrates the benefits of having families in the community who are willing to put their hands up for the benefit of the school and the children. There is a strong sense of community amongst our families.

Thank you to the parents who nominated for executive roles on the P&F for 2023 at our AGM on Monday. In particular I thank Melissa Bartolo for taking on the President role.
