Time Spent Wisely

My family have recently said 'farewell' to our beloved Ma (mother-in law).  In the weeks leading up to her departure to Heaven, as a family we spent hours doing crosswords and word puzzles with  her.  Her word knowledge was beyond anything I have ever witnessed as she would beat us to every answer before we even had a chance to think.  This time will be forever etched in my memory and I will never look at a crossword the same again.  I tried giving the 'Brain Gains' in last weeks Sunday Mail and felt the dear loss of Ma.  I am certainly no word smith and admitted defeat.  Here is hoping this week's is a little kinder to me.

This season in my life, has presented me with a provocation - "How do I spend my time and do I spend it wisely?"  It is so very easy to get wrapped up in the demands of each day and feel exhausted by the time the sun goes down.  But I wonder, is this how God intends our lives to be?  Living within the busyness of life and holding on til the next weekend of day off?

In the Bible, we read:

" So, teach us to number our days that me may apply our hearts to wisdom."  Psalms 90:12

"So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don’t be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good."  Ephesians 5:15-16

"You don’t really know about tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for only a short while before it vanishes."  James 4:14

There seems to be this connection between time and wisdom as I read through scriptures in the Bible.  A notion that time is best spent and fruitful when wisdom is at the heart of our decision making and delegation.

There is no denying that Ma spent her final hours each week delighting herself in completing word puzzles, which positioned her to be well respected amongst our family. However, I think she knew that this time spent together, honing in the skill of masterfully placing the right words in the right place had more to do with the memories we would make together.

As we being to enter what is often labelled the 'crazy season' (Christmas), how are you spending your time?

I pray that this season be one of wonderful memory making moments for you all as you apply wisdom to your hearts and make every opportunity for good.

Remembrance Day

Today our entire Curiosity community went to school to join the Remembrance Day service.  The children explored the school and found lots of poppies in artwork and sat so beautifully as we listened to the Last Post being played.  We then spent time together  on the playground which for some Green Team children was their very first time.

For those who have and continue to serve our nation, we say 'thank you'.
