Principal's Message

Good afternoon and welcome to the end of Week 6. Yes, 5 weeks to go and the 2022 year will be complete.
Our Whole School Organisation team is in 'full swing' to set up for the roll over of each of the year levels into Headstart; the transition program for 2022 into 2023.
Monday 14th November will see the current Year 11 students start their Year 12 studies, and then all other year levels will follow on Tuesday 29th November. Notifications have been sent to all families and posted on our Facebook page to inform of the exact timing. Please be sure to double check them and be well aware of when your children will be commencing their 2023 transition. If you are unsure please call our office or Hubs to check.
This week has been a little unusual, in that myself and the 4 Assistant Principals were in Melbourne all day Wednesday. We attended a Professional Development Day around 'Coaching' to improve our current model to build the capacity of all teachers in our College. The day was excellent and I am really pleased that we made the investment to attend. It is indeed a rare occasion when all of us leave for the full day. Thanks to Tony Roberts who stepped in for the day to be the 'Acting Principal'. From his report the day went smoothly, and he couldn’t speak highly enough of the attitude of all staff to 'step up' and fill some gaps due to absences. We really are raising the bar and working as a team. Thanks to all.
This week Dan Petro has been working with key leaders (Assistant Principals and Hub staff) around developing Individual Management Plans, Individual Programs and also working through some specific case studies of the Functions of Behaviours. This is continuous work at our College and these days were a key piece.
Speaking of team building, our day at The Summit on Monday before Cup Day was fabulous. I must be truthful and say that I was a little nervous, we had made a big commitment and I really wanted it to go well. For staff to mix, work with those that they wouldn’t normally and really build a sense of team.
I know I loved it the day, but to gather the voice of the staff we completed a quick survey so that we had legitimate feedback. Again, couldn’t be happier. Staff spoke of being nervous, anxious, thinking it might be a waste of time, to being excited and couldn’t wait! More importantly – the after thoughts – were all positive and fully endorsed how much the day achieved! So happy! We also asked for highlights – we had some staff who had tears of fear as they stood on the edge of the 'Leap of Faith' but jumped anyway and received cheers and applause for their courage. So for next year, let's do it again?
There are few details that we will tweak, but that goes with any piece of work , you run it, reflect on it and then adjust to improve it.
Our Year 12 Exams have pretty much concluded now, and so we wait now for results. These will come through in early December and yes, along with the students, the staff (and me) we will be very keen to see the outcomes. Our Year 12 Graduation in next Thursday.
As always there is plenty happening, so please stay in touch with the communications to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Thanks for reading!
