School Council News

Finance update | How to get involved

School Council sends our best wishes to the Chelt.Sec community. We hope everyone is keeping safe and well and looking forward to the year wrapping up.

At the close of the year, School Council reviews the annual interim school budget for 2023. Approved projects include;

  • Low-value construction works, including planning for a basketball half-court and replacement of lockers in the Senior Centre locker bay.
  • Upgrade of important IT infrastructure to support and deliver an effective and reliable network to the school
  • Selling of the old school buses and moving to lease of a modern bus (with seatbelts!) that meets the safety requirements for our students and staff

In 2023 we will continue to balance the budget against the demands of the curriculum, immediate needs, and long-term needs of the school.

We are looking forward to working with our re-elected State MP Nick Staikos who has pledged $7.3M in funding for a new building with classrooms and a master plan to map out the future vision of the school’s facilities.

As parents, we ask a lot from our school. We ask that it create an environment where kids can succeed, can be their best, can achieve academically, can be supported, can learn values and ethics, can form lifelong friendships and enjoy memorable extracurricular activities. We look for inclusion, resilience, opportunity and support all in one package.

Ongoing financial support from families help us offer the best support for our students, including facilities and the built environment. If you are in a position to make voluntary contributions as well as school fees, thank you for considering – it really does make a difference.

We’d like to take the opportunity to thank teaching and non-teaching school staff who have worked so hard for our students this year. Wishing all the Chelt.Sec community a safe and relaxing break and looking forward to 2023.
