Project Ready 2023
What a year we’ve had. A group of 13 year 10 and year 11 students undertook a Certificate II in Active Volunteering that helped them explore their interests, strengths, learning and career goals and develop their employability skills. We had an exciting year and everyone brought a willingness to try new things, ideas about your future and a sense of humour to our sessions.
Highlights from the year included a meeting with MP Mary-Anne Thomas to discuss the lack of youth activities in the region, an excursion to The Melbourne Careers Expo which broadened our horizons, kindness project where students delivered hand picked and made bouquets with notes to strangers around Gisborne just to brighten their day, countless workplace visits and of course our community project where we volunteered at Barrm Birrm and helped Riddells Creek Landcare rid this pristine and natural parcel of land of the invasive gorse weed. The students enjoyed the program and developed a team culture, knowledge and skills to step into their future on the right foot.
I think it’s an amazing program and am very proud of what the 2022 students have achieved. I can’t wait to see where Project Ready 2023 takes us.
