Secondary Free Dress Day - Thursday 8 December

In Christian Studies we have been learning about the impact of the church on the wider community and have looked at both positive and negative examples of this. Whilst there have been a number of periods throughout the history of the Church in which Jesus’ teachings have been ignored or taken out of context, our studies have revealed that the Christian faith has had a profound impact around the world in bettering individual lives and, in some circumstances, entire nations. This includes the civil rights movement in the United States and the missionary journeys throughout the world, past and present. These sincere followers of Christ have sought to rise to the challenge articulated in Matthew where Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:40.

As a practical response to what we’ve been learning, we intend to hold a free dress day on Thursday 8 December. Students are asked to give a gold coin donation, with all proceeds going to The Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal. The Salvation Army aids the needy and gives those who are struggling a hand, making a real, tangible difference in our community.
