2023 Rugby Tour to New Zealand

How many people can say they faced off against the Haka against a New Zealand Team on their home soil?

Calrossy is excited to announce the 2023 New Zealand Rugby Tour. The tour for 15 & 16 year old boys’ and girls’ teams will take place from 24th June to 3rd July 2023. The tour will take in the South Island of New Zealand including Christchurch, Timaru, Mount Hutt.

Please see the Information on the New Zealand Rugby Tour page. There will be an information evening and parent meeting on Thursday 17th November, at 6pm on the Brisbane St Campus (Room 108).

The tour will proceed once the minimum number of students have paid their holding deposit - available now on Qkr!. Numbers will be capped, and early payment of deposit is highly recommended. For player safety, team selections may be required.

Basketball

Junior School Basketball is underway and Calrossy went two-for-two after the Kings and Mystics both took home great wins. The teams will feature alongside our other teams in the Preliminary Finals. Mystics Coach Emma Rumble was thrilled with her teams continued improvement and outstanding team play.

Well done Kings & Mystics!

Douglas Shield Cricket - Calrossy  vs Carinya

Calrossy First XI Cricket began their Douglas Shield campaign by securing a strong win against Carinya.

Carinya won the toss and after electing to bat got away to a strong start on the flat deck. The openers capitalised on missed opportunities and despite the tight bowling made it to 80 without loss. Tom Aitken then took the ball in a man of the match performance taking 4/24 including a stunning caught and bowled that shifted the momentum toward Calrossy. Ryan Stewart returned to the attack taking two quick wickets before Georgia Davidson was injected into the attack taking a wicket off her first ball. She finished with 3/7 off three overs to clean up the tail with Jock Smith the other wicket taker.

Tom Aitken returned to the middle with opening batting partner, Henry O’Hehir, where the two cautiously saw off the Carinya opening bowlers. The two showed an array of fine shots before Tom was finally dismissed for 40. Henry continued on his way to an unbeaten 48 to win the game partnered by Harrison Hamilton (13), and Will Doyle unbeaten on 7.

Thanks Mrs Holmes for coaching the First XI.

Wiburd Shield Cricket -  Calrossy vs Carinya

Calrossy’s Wiburd Shield squad came away with a win in their first outing of the season against Carinya. Calrosys won the toss and elected to bat with Hayden Evans relishing his opportunity to open against a formidable bowling attack. After a solid start from Calrossy, Carinya took two quick wickets before Harrison Hamilton steadied the ship with an outstanding 47. The team consolidated until more quick wickets saw trouble brewing. In walked captain Tom Holmes who calmly set to work carving out a mature 39 that carried the team into the last 10 overs. Alex Ingall was outstanding in seeing out the innings unbeaten on 14. Calrossy batted out the overs finishing on 7/152.

Carinya’s opening pair included one of the form batsmen of the tournament who came out with ominous intent. Calrossy opening bowler Charley Pickens kept the openers at bay with razor sharp bowling including a wicket off the first ball thanks to Henry O’Hehir’s safe hands. Charles Hill at the other end was fast with few runs coming off the a bat. Tom Holmes was injected into the line up which paid dividends taking the prize scalp of the Carinya opener as he finished with figures of 2/4. O’Hehir himself finished with figures of 2/10 while debutant Dane Cuddihy took 1/16. Hayden Evans took 1/21 and Alex Ingall followed up his strong batting performance with 1/18, while the best figures belonged to Charley Pickens with 3/6. Carinya was eventually bowled out in the 41st over for 128.

Congratulations to the Wiburd team for their exceptional approach to all aspects of the game. Well done gentleman.
