                                                             Italian Day

Ciao a tutti,

What a wonderful day everyone had on Italian day!! Che Bella Giornata!!

The day was full of many wonderful experiences for the students. Our students were given the opportunity to participate in Italian culture through a range of activities and a taste of the Italian cuisine. The students came dressed in Italian costumes or Italian colours, it was a vibrant sea of red, white and green.

In the morning, after the parade and some Italian music, students worked in cross age groups and it was wonderful to see the older children help the younger children and work together. The activities were both educational and cultural such as making pasta, pizzelle and savoiardi biscuits - we have the making of the next Master Chefs.  It was obvious that the children enjoyed eating the biscuits.

Some students made Roman mosaics and learnt that it was the rich Romans who had mosaics in their homes. Other students were taught how to play Bocce and other children learnt how to draw the Colosseum, make pasta jewellery and Italian flags.

We were entertained by the production “Dammi il Cinque,” Claudia had us all dancing and singing as we learnt about the history of some of the cities in Italy. A highlight was the luncheon of pizza and gelato.

In the afternoon the children participated in soccer clinics, the national sport of Italy. It was great to see the children try different things and experience all that was available.

A big thank you - Grazie to the parents who assisted on the day, your help was really appreciated by the students and staff. These days would not be possible if it were not for the assistance of parents, staff and the co-operation of the students.

Mille grazie a tutti.

Giulia and Maria
