Band & Choir

Term 4, Week 8

What a musical two weeks we have had at BPS!

Final Choir Performance - Fri 2 December

The final Choir performance of the year will be next Friday 2nd December at the school assembly. We’d love to see you there! Assembly will be held in the Gym starting at 2.40pm.

Evening of Music

The BPS Evening of Music  -  our annual concert of our Bands, Ensembles and Choir - was held at One Church on Wednesday 16 November. After two years of not being able to perform together (due to covid restrictions), I am sure you'd all agree how fantastic it was to see and hear our students on stage! The concert was a truly wonderful showcase of talent which was enjoyed by the audience AND the performers.

Request for Photos and Footage

If anyone has any footage (or amazing photos!) of the evening..... in particular of the Choir, I would appreciate be very happy to receive a copy please! I’d love for the Choir to watch their performance (even if it's only a snippet!) during our final lunch rehearsal next Monday 28 November. Please email to lisa.shacklock@education.vic.gov.au. Thank you!

Thank you:

  • to the BPS instrumental staff and Ensemble Directors for their expert teaching of our students.
  • Jo Seton (Friends of the Band), and all the parent volunteers who assisted the smooth running of the event.
  • to the BPS staff who volunteered their assistance at the rehearsal and at the evening concert. Organising an event this size requires a great team, and BPS staff are THE best!

Band Recruitment Night

A HUGE thank you to everyone who attended the Band Recruitment Night on Monday. We understand it’s a busy time of year, and appreciate your efforts in coming along to learn about the BPS Band Program.

If you were unable to attend the session but are interested in the 2023 Band Program, please pop by the school office to collect the ‘2023 Band Info Pack’. This includes the Band Handbook, Uniform Sheet and, most importantly, the Band Instrument Preference Form – due tomorrow, Thursday 24 November.

Please give your Instrument Preference Form to the office ASAP, ensuring you have written THREE different instruments that your child would be happy to learn (number 1 being their most preferred choice).

The instruments we have on offer are:

  • Acoustic guitar (joins the Guitar Ensemble)
  • Bass guitar (joins the Band)
  • Clarinet
  • Flute
  • Percussion
  • Saxophone
  • Trombone
  • Trumpet

Alwaynne Strentz and Ken Macdonald will be allocating instruments to students in the coming days in preparation for instrument offers to be distributed by Friday 2nd December.
