Principal Report

On Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th of November I completed my SPPIKE Training in Swan Hill. The purpose of the SPPIKE professional learning program is to activate the vision and principles of the Marrung Education Plan 2016 – 2026. The core aim of SPPIKE training is to challenge and equip school leaders with the knowledge, skills and tools to be transformative for whole school cultural change. Whilst the focus is on Koorie Cultural Inclusion and instilling high expectations, the principles and skills relate to all young people.

The training has provided me with a platform to engage with others in transformative discussions and look at potential actions to build relationships and outcomes for Koorie students, families and Community. I have been able to develop partnerships with the Koorie Community with the aim of strengthening relationships to ensure a safe and inclusive community here at Edenhope College.

The training is led by Toby Adams who is a specialist in cultural competency and leadership programs and focuses on strength-based approaches that explore and use First Nations knowledges and processes. He is highly engaging and led an exceptional professional learning experience with the support of Mark Corrie, former Principal of Tyrell College in Sea Lake.

Whilst the sessions focussed on strengthening Koorie Education, there is a strong emphasis on creating a high-performance learning culture supportive of all students. It has been an impactful series of sessions and is the starting point for a range of projects that we will be driving, with the students, at the College into the future.

Interim Reports trial

Interim Reports have been sent home for students in Primary and Years 9 & 10. It is a ‘trial’ and we would sincerely appreciate any feedback to ensure that they are improved in 2023 and beyond. We have sent home reports via mail, but they can also be accessed via Xuno. Any concerns or feedback please call me at the College.

Term 4 Hats

A reminder to all that Term 4 is a hat term. All students and staff are expected to wear hats during term. We would also ask parents/carers to have the discussion with their students ensure that the summer uniform is worn appropriately.

Any families requiring support with their uniform are asked to contact the Home Group teachers or Sub-school Coordinators.
