NSWPSSA ATHLETICS

Last week, eight St Xavier's athletes travelled to Homebush, representing Polding at the NSW PSSA Athletics Competition.

The Junior girls relay team (Kalani Bender, Isabelle Hamilton, Luna Baynton and Ruby Ricketts) came 13th in their heat, qualifying for the semi-final. They came 11th overall out of 37 teams.

Gus Simpson in the 100m sprint came 5th in his heat and qualified for the semi-final where he came 18th overall out of 40 competitors.

Charlee Adamson came 4th overall out of 39 competitors in her highjump with a PB of 1.45m. Charlee narrowly missed out on selection in the State Team. Charlee had also been previously invited to participate in an Elite Program for Emerging Athletes via Little Athletics in Narrabeen directly after NSWPSSA. She was coached by Brandon Starc, Australian Olympic High Jumper and thoroughly enjoyed learning from him.

Henry Weinthal suffered an injured foot prior to the event but still bravely competed in his high jump.

Josh Spinks came 14th in his 1500m event.

Interschool Horse Extravaganza

Recently, Jessica Swain proudly represented St Xaviers at the Interschool Horse Extravaganza (ISHE) at AELEC, Tamworth.

Jess and her horses, Popcorn and Splash competed in Dressage and Showjumping.

The level of competition was high but Jess was fortunate to be in first place after the dressage in Combined Training(CT) 60cm and CT 80cm. Thankfully Jess was able to handle the pressure, rode well, and both horses went clear in the showjumping!

Jess was awarded Primary Champion Combined Training 60cm and Primary Champion Combined Training 80cm.

Jessica and Popcorn then stepped up to the Primary Dressage competition. Out of 60 riders, they were Awarded Overall Primary Champion Preliminary Dressage winning both tests in The 1B and 1C.

Jessica and her horses have qualified for The State Interschools to be held April 2023 in Sydney.

Jess greatly appreciates the efforts of the hardworking ISHE organising committee for putting on this event, the sponsors, the volunteers and St Xaviers, especially Karen Guy, for providing the support and wonderful opportunities for our children to attend these events.
