Teaching & Learning 5MH

Over the past week we have explored ANZAC traditions to help us understand why we celebrate ANZAC Day. ‘The Poppy’ and ‘ANZAC Biscuits’ were two of the great picture story books we read to assist our learning.  We also conducted insightful research about WW1 and WW2 to create our own information report.

ANZAC is an acronym for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps - Zayde.

Did you know the bugle was played to signal the war was over? - Max.

While conducting research we came across some unfamiliar words like enlisted, which led to great discussions as we expanded our vocabulary. We thoroughly enjoyed working collaboratively to complete our own ANZAC Day timeline.

Did you know the first ANZAC Day parade took place on the 25th of April 1916? - Mia.

We can also confirm that ANZAC biscuits are DELICIOUS! Did you know that ANZAC  biscuits were sent by wives and women’s groups to soldiers abroad because the ingredients did not spoil easily and the biscuits kept well during transportation.
