Assistant Principal's Report

NAPLAN

Next week, students in Years 3 and 5 will begin completing the National Assessment Program - Literacy And Numeracy (NAPLAN) testing. At Langwarrin Primary School, we plan on completing the tests during the first week of the NAPLAN testing block, which runs from Tuesday 11th May to Friday 21st May. The tests focus on Reading, Writing, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy, with the aim of highlighting the educational developments that students make over the course of their time at primary and secondary school. This testing provides information for students, parents and teachers, which is used to improve student achievement. Later in the year you will receive your child’s NAPLAN report. This report will describe your child’s particular skills in each of the tested areas. It is important to note that the twice yearly individual student reports prepared by the classroom teacher, give a more comprehensive and accurate picture of what your child is able to do and where they are having difficulties.

Sibling Enrolments

Prep 2022 - Do you have a child you intend to enrol in Prep 2022 here at Langwarrin Primary School? If so, please collect an enrolment form from the office (available from Monday 10th May) and return it as soon as possible. Every year we receive an increasing number of enrolment enquiries and your cooperation will assist with our forward planning.

Mother’s Day

Thanks to our small, but hardworking group of PFA mums who have shopped, setup, and served at our Mother’s Day stall today and will also be back tomorrow. After the disappointment of not being able to have our stall last year, it was great to see so many little faces choosing gifts today.  I hope all our mums – and those that take on that role, who are many – have a lovely day on Sunday.

Our Mother’s Day raffle winners will be announced today – keep an eye on the Facebook page for the winners.

Parent Helpers in the Classroom

It has been lovely to walk around the school and see many parents helping in our classrooms.  Whether it’s listening to a child read, helping with some tricky words or covering books for our library,  every bit helps.  A reminder to all helpers to please sign in at the office and place the yellow lanyard around your neck whilst you are on the school grounds.  If you would like to help out, please contact your child’s teacher and let them know your availability.

Have a great week,

Mrs Pepper
