Harmony Day

They say that a picture is worth 1000 words. We have so many beautiful pictures of our Harmony Day Assembly. A big thank you to our parents who ensured that a large majority of our students were dressed in orange or in their very fine traditional garments. The photos really do say it all!
Our students represented their heritage from 49 different countries in our parade of nations. The colour and diversity was really beautiful to behold.
Former student Alton Walley opened the assembly with an Acknowledgement to Country in a very unique way. He had us all singing about the koolbardie (magpies) and the djidi djidi (willy wagtails) at the start of the assembly.
Mrs Coleman did a fabulous job teaching the students songs in Noongar, English, and Filipino. The students sang beautifully in three languages.
A big thank you to Mr and Mrs Biticon who made our bahay kubo (nipa hut) for the occasion.
Each class contributed a stunning flower to our backdrop to go with our theme- Friends are like flowers, they bloom in every season. We are so fortunate to have friends from many cultural backgrounds at this school.
Special guests -Mr Matthew Osborne- Assistant Director of Education and former Burrendah Primary School Student also attended the assembly as our special guest along with City Of Canning Councillor – Ms Yaso Ponnuthurai. Cr Yaso is a frequent visitor at our school and is considered part of our Burrendah School Community.
Our school leaders ran the assembly very competently with the support of Mrs Coleman, the EAL/D team, Mrs Horoch, and in cooperation with classroom teachers and students from Pre-Primary –Year 6. Well done everyone!
