Pastoral Care/Chaplain

This term we welcome Corey Payton to the Well Done Team. Corey will be working with students individually and in groups to support them with their pastoral care needs. If you feel that your child may benefit from pastoral support please feel free to contact me.  Please read below for an introduction to Corey.

Hello my name is Corey Payton and I am the new Chaplain at St James Primary. I was born in Perth, to a family of 3 older brothers and one younger sister, my parents will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year. I'm blessed to have them. I have a lovely wife, Leisl and two beautiful girls, Evelyn (3) and Tahlia (11 months). I have a Bachelor and Masters in Theology and a Diploma in Life Coaching. Two of my passions are faith and wellbeing. We all know how important it is to have a strong foundation for life for our children. So I am excited to support your child's emotional and spiritual wellbeing as part of the Wellbeing Team. And special thanks to Georgia, Karlee and Brendan for supporting me in becoming the newest member of the St James staff.

The Poppit Craze!

You may have noticed or been asked to purchase a poppit.  A poppit is a sensory and regulatory tool that can be used by individuals for many ways. Recently I came across this article from Kids Spot that you may find interesting.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Change

Welcome back!!! I hope that families have had time to relax and reflect these school holidays and are ready for a busy yet exciting Term 2.

This term students will be focusing on the big concept ‘CHANGE’. In the Catholic Faith we have witnessed great change during the periods of LENT and EASTER. During Lent we were asked to make a change in ourselves through Almsgiving, Prayer and Fasting. Throughout Holy Week, we once again witnessed change through the death and resurrection of Jesus and he continues this change as he waits to join his Father in heaven, both body and soul.

In the period of Easter, we witness Jesus’ disciples awaiting the coming of the Holy Spirit which enables change within themselves to share the Good News. This is the change we invite the community of St James to be a part of.  Students will be looking at how they can be Agents of Change in sharing the Good news.

Project Compassion

Congratulations to the St James community for raising over $900 for Project Compassion. Well done to our Social Justice Leaders and SRC reps.  This money raised will go to support communities both near and far to create a better future.
