Wrapping up a fine term in Art

As we approach the end of a successful term of Art classes, I felt the students all needed to be acknowledged for their fabulous creativity, efforts and enthusiasm. Here are just a few samples of some of the great work that has been completed from Grade Prep to Grade Six.

Congratulations to all students…it has been an absolute pleasure and I cannot wait until we do it all again in Term 2!

Grade Prep Self Portraits

This term the Prep students have been practising their cutting skills, learning about lines and studying themselves in a mirror!

Grade 1 Contour Cats

The Grade 1 students have been learning about the different relationships between colours. They have started to study the Colour Wheel, focussing on Warm and Cool colours. They have also been working with patterns, line and shape. The students explored different watercolour techniques such as wet-on-wet; wet-on-dry and wax resist.

Grade 2 Jungle Snakes

Grade 2 students have been learning about making marks in Art. They then used their knowledge to create these gorgeous Jungle Snakes.

Grade 3 Complimentary Monsters

The Grade 3 students have been showcasing their knowledge of Complimentary and Contrasting colours in these fun monster pictures.

Grade 4 Succulent Still Life

So much learning has been part of this Grade 4 project. Notice the Geometric patterns on the pots? And just look at the way the students have learned to add texture to their plants. Amazing results!

Grade 5 Koi Fish

This term the Grade 5 students have been looking at Koi fish and their place in Chinese and Japanese art.

More recently the students have worked on details and using a combination of crayon, pastel and watercolour in their artwork.

Grade 6 Sonia Delaunay inspired art

This term, the Grade 6 students have been extremely busy working on a new sketchbook task each week in Art class.

They have looked at…

the art element of Value;

studied atmospheric perspective;

learned how to draw folk trees

and were also inspired by artist, Sonia Delaunay to create these colourful, bold, Geometric pieces.
